A TRUE MOLSON CANADIAN STORY
I'm Chris Bailey, the creator of Lidgloves.
It all started with a t-shirt out of a Molson Canadian case of beer.
I was trying my hand at painting my goalie mask—the old paint job was completely chipped up from taking headers in beer league hockey—and needed a break. I cracked open the case and found a vibrant red t-shirt inside, featuring a bright white design of an old-school goalie in a vintage mask.
I instantly wanted that design on my helmet. A couple of beers in, with zero progress on the paint, I decided to pull the t-shirt over the shell just to check the sizing and layout.
When I stretched the fabric over it, it blew me away. The colors popped, and the design flowed seamlessly over the breather holes. I proceeded to cut, tuck, and glue the fabric around the edges, then reattached the cage and straps. Voila.
At the rink the next night, everyone on the team was asking where I got my mask painted and how much it cost. It looked that good. I knew right then I was onto something.
